words of the day

i've had very little time to contribute to my blog lately due,to well, a life known as grad school. today, i am starting what i hope will be a series called Words of the Day. These words may reveal to me and to anyone who cares: potential patterns, new directions or random off-shoots in my research. At the very least this will serve as a documentation of my thesis related thinking path.
