the death of the mouse

i found this (Say Goodbye to the Computer Mouse ) article today on bbc.com. a researcher is predicting that computer mice will soon be a thing of the past. "A Gartner analyst predicts the demise of the computer mouse in the next three to five years.

"Taking over will be so called gestural computer mechanisms like touch screens and facial recognition devices."

"gestural computer mechanisms"!!!! glad to be hearing this in mainstream media. take the shackles away!

There's really only one gesture I associate with my computer...and it's not one I care to see mirrored back at me.

i too am looking forward to getting rid of the need for yet another skill set that is needed to design: the ability to make tiny and precise gestures with my right index and middle fingers on a small device. said device configuration has encouraged carpal tunnel and tendonitis. be gone extra thing! however, i do not want my computer to talk back to me or rate my productivity.
